Christmas Canvas

I was in my studio this morning pondering on a couple of Christmas presents that I wanted to make....shall I do a box?....maybe a triple-hanging atc magnet?...decorate one of my little paper-mache houses? Then I came across my canvas stash....really must stop buying these and actually start USING them! So I pulled out a couple of 4" x 4" 's and rummaged through my images to get the creative juices happening. Two images immediately leapt out at me and these two canvases are the result....hope the recipients like them. Now my dilemma is - which one do I give to which person???

(I'll tell you a secret - my trick for making stuff that you INTEND to give to someone else and then you really, really like it and want to keep it for yourself.....have it displayed in a place where you see it all the time - in my place it's the family room on the sideboard. This way, when it comes time to hand it over, you've looked at it that often that it's easier to "let go"....my theory anyway! lol)

KELSEY!!! i stumbled upon your blog from Nat's blog links.. How cool that you have a blog!! I love your pyschology on how to give away art! lol.. Actually, ever notice how the art that you 'intend' to give to someone always turns out better than the ones you do for yourself (or maybe that's just me), what i like to do is get officeworks to colour copy the artwork, then i keep the copy and give away the original :oD Your collages are amazing by the way.. i love the weathered look. Would love to know how you did the first one! :o)

Coming from you Sulea these compliments are humbling.... I have always admired your art! Ever since that first time I went to SAJ's, and you took me under your wing and spoke with me all night and showed me your stampart pieces which I thought were just Amazing (yes, there should be a capital A on that word!). So which one are you talking about? The blue one or the cream/burgundy one?

These are both gorgeous! Like Sulea I love the background texture of the first - and the hanging charms, I would never in a million years have thought of THAT perfect touch.

The colours on the second are just gorgeous ...

Thanks Julie, I've had a hanging coin necklace for ages and when I found that picture yesterday, it just went with it perfectly! There IS a reason I buy things "just because"! hahaha
