ANGELINA FRAMES, FLAMES & FLOWERS

 I have a stash of Angelina Film (& Angelina Fibres) from my days as a cloth doll maker decades ago. It's wonderful stuff and creates amazing shapes, and changes colour, and you can burn holes in it when using a heat gun. For this class, I used a tea-light candle to melt and shape strips to make the flowers and smoke/flames. If you have some, dig it out and have a play. Don't put it directly in the flame though, aim it for the warm airflow directly above the flame, about 4 or so inches above the top of the flame. That'll be enough to heat it and distort it. It gets hot so maybe use tweezers to hold and shape the strips so you don't burn yourself. Ask me how I know! 🔥

BAKED TEXTURE EMBOSSING & BRUSHO'S

I've always loved embossing powders and ever since Seth Apter's Baked Texture Embossing Powders hit the market I've really enjoyed the beautiful colours and texture these embossing powders give.  For this technique, I've combined tissue paper crinkled background with Brusho's (& Cosmic Pixie Powders and Tonic Shimmer Powders as you can never have enough shimmer in your life), plus the addition of a swipe of a clear embossing ink pad to hit the high spots of the tissue paper, then the addition of the Baked Texture Embossing Powders.  These products combined create an amazing background that you just know,  just by looking at it, it's going to feel lumpy, bumpy but also kind of smooth (that's the embossing powder part).

(More of a mixed media feel to this one, chipboard heart painted to look rusty,

metal dragonfly that's coated in a couple of colours of embossing powders, then

clear coated with UTEE - Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel, book paper lightly painted

with Ken Oliver's Copper Liquid Metals which was also dripped down a couple

of the sides.  The dragonfly is attached using copper coloured thread.  Lastly a couple

of gunmetal coloured stud embellishments on the book paper.  The colour of the

Embossing Powder on the aqua background is the Emerald Creek Fractured Ice.

 "Hashtags"...

(The little weird guy is an Octopode stamp on shrink plastic, coloured and

shrunk.  The heart has a real shimmer to it as it's chipboard, painted black,

then Angelina Film glued on, trimmed around the edges and heated which

gives it the multi-toned coppery effect.)

WAX PAPER FRESCO

This is another background technique that uses a few products we've used before in our classes.... Wax Paper, Embossing Folders and an embossing machine (Big Shot or Cuttlebug etc.) and Distress Ink Pads.  I have also utilised some Angelina Fibre in this class as well although it's pretty hard to see.  It's on the first atc, Bling out your dead and I've captured some Angelina Fibre in copper between the card stock and the waxed paper before I've embossed and coloured it.  I've also added some loose fibres underneath the picture.  Unfortunately this is another of those atc's that has to be seen in the flesh to appreciate all the shimmer of the fibres.  Yes girls in my classes, there is a new quote sheet out, number 22!

Glue Scribble Background

The technique for this fortnight and possible cover for book #12 is called Glue Scribble Background where we'll be using the Ranger Distress Paints, including the 3 metallic colours for that extra shimmer.  The girls have a choice of using either this background or the Credit Card Re-visited one from last fortnight to cover their Book Number 12 with.... depending on which background they are happier with.  I have done a couple of sample atc's using this background as well as having done one front cover which I haven't decorated further as I wanted to show the full effect of the paints without cluttering it up yet.  Will show the cover when it gets finished though..... samples first....

in this one, that's the glue.  The other colours I used

in the Distress Paints are Rusty Hinge, Dusty Concord and Bronze)

 

This is the cover with Weathered Wood, Peacock Feathers, Broken China, Stormy Sky,

Tumbled Glass, Bronze, Antique Brass and Silver.  No glue used on this one either.  This might

be the back page and I will probably use glue on the front cover with these same colours.

ANGELINA FILM REVISITED

I have previously done a class using Angelina Film (also called Fusible Film) but as I have quite a few newer girls who have never used it before and the previous class was several years ago, I thought I'd revisit it again.  Some of them already have the film but have never used it so I will be showing them several ways to use their Angelina.

 

The first atc is made by using the Angelina as the background on black cardstock and run through a machine with an embossing folder, then heated to create the various colours and burn marks.

"Vivacious"...

 

For this next one I have attached the Angelina to a chipboard shape and then coated it several times with clear utee, making it look like a shiny dichroic glass embellishment.  It looks like opal!

"Captivating"...

 

If you can tear your eyes away from the vision through the window... the window is made by attaching Angelina to a frame, embossing it with an embossing folder through a machine and then applying heat to make the Angelina change colour but also burn away in sections on the window.

"Seduction"...

 

This embellishment piece with Angelina was made by covering a piece of black cardstock with Angelina (I use pva craft glue to attach the Angelina), allow to dry then run through a Cuttlebug

 die-cut to make the embellishment.

"Conjurer"...

 

This is the same technique as above with a different shaped piece... it's actually the waste of the above piece!  Did you notice that?

These 3 atc's below are the remaining ones from the previous class, Glue Embossing.  All the girls who took this class did an amazing job of their pieces.  It's a really easy but very effective technique!
