MARBLED STENCILS

 The last time we did marbling with re-inkers and shaving foam was back in 2010. It's such an easy technique and this variation is just as effective! Previously we dipped the card into the shaving foam that the Distress re-inkers were dropped onto and then marbled with a skewer onto the foam to create the marble look. This time we'll be applying it through a stencil to give a different spin on it. With 72 colours of Distress re-inkers, there will be plenty of colour combinations that can be created. I'll be using Bristol Smooth cardstock but any white/ivory/cream cardstock will work with this technique.

Marble Emboss

Just over three years ago I did a marbling technique using shaving foam and distress inks.  Because I have new students I'll be repeating this class but I like to add something different so the students who have stuck with me all this time can have a play with an old technique, but with a twist.  I'll be using embossing as a way of highlighting the wonderful swirls and patterns you can create with the marbling technique on the card stock.  Love how different all these backgrounds turn out and how the little addition of embossing applied with the special Eraser Max pen can alter how it looks.  The Eraser Max pen does such fine lines that it doesn't overpower whatever you use it on but if you want to do a heavier application, you just scribble with it to colour in an area and it will emboss a larger area if you wish.

Marbling Technique ATC's

Coming up on Saturday is the Marbling background technique for the girls in my atc technique book class. This is the marbling that's done with shaving cream and re-inkers. Another old-style technique that's been around forever but depending on what colours you use, it can be vibrant or subtle. Here's the samples...

"What is nature"...

"Portray"... (the chunky looking flourish at the top is new Martha Stewart micro beads in a chocolate colour that we've just got in store at Scraptivate. These come in just beautiful colours and for only $7.95 for a huge jar that will last forever! I used Glossy Accents to go over a flourish stamp and just tipped the micro beads on, flattened them to adhere to the Glossy Accents, tipped off the excess and just let them dry...gorgeous!)

Part 2 of the Art Doll Class is on tomorrow afternoon after the atc class in the morning. Tomorrow the girls are going to learn a few different ways of beading, picot, fringing and a freestyle beading technique that I know is going to test their patience but they'll love the final effect. I'm thinking of making some mini-art dolls so stay tuned....might even give some kits away!
