Textured Book Cover Giveaway and Metalllic Acetate ATC's

The repeat class of the Texture Paste Cover & sample atc's was well received by the girls. I first did this class around 18 months ago and have had a small band of women who've been nagging to do a repeat as they missed it first time around. If you nag, I respond!!! Wait....no I don't!!! Whatever, sometimes I respond and sometimes I don't.

So this means I have 3 textured book covers to give away on my blog. The dimensions are approximately 8" wide x 6" high (or 20.5cm x 15cm if you're that way inclined). It is created on chipboard and is easy to punch a hole through if that's what you want to do to make it into a book cover.
The draw will be on Friday the 12th of March.

All of my pictures are "clickable"...click on them to supersize.

#1 - Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold & Dioxazine Purple (both Golden paints), then White Fire Treasure Gold rubbed lightly over the top to show the highlights.

#2 - Turquois Phthalo & Quinacridone Magenta then dry-brushed lightly with Interference Silver to pick up the highlights (these are all Golden paints again).

#3 - Titan Buff, Burnt Umber Light and Burnt Umber then dry-brushed with Iridescent Bronze Fine & a little Interference Gold Fine (once again, Golden paints). This one definitely looks better in the flesh, more like shimmery brown goodness, less like smeared dog poo.

So if you want to win one of these three covers, simply leave me a comment at the end of this post and let me know what you might do with it if you do win and which one you would like. I'm giving all three away so there will be three winners (obviously!). I'll contact you via email (or I'll just "reply" from the comment you send) and then you've got 7 days to get in contact with me for postage details.

The atc below is a sample one from the same Texture Paste Class. I used the beautiful Black Texture Paste in a tube and "piped" the tree freehand. It also has some Frayed Burlap Distress Stickles and is on a painted background of Texture Paste that has been tapped with my finger to gain the texture.

"Organic earth"...

Okay, my next atc class coming up for this fortnight was going to be KISS technique, unfortunately my style of stamps that I use doesn't really lend itself to this technique very well. It's more suited to solid simple shapes like flowers, pears etc.....I don't have a lot (ANY!!!) of those so I had to come up with something else quick smart. Thinking, thinking, thinking.....what do I love.....paint - yep!...backgrounds - yep!....foolproof & easy - yep! So Metallic Acetate it is!!! This is another of those backgrounds that must be seen to be appreciated. A note to the girls who see them in the shop, please leave a comment and tell everyone else how amazing this background is in real life! Please! Begging is not pretty!!!

"Technicolour Voodoo"...

"Night Flight"...
"The Pain Passes"...

"Autobiographical"...

"Breath"...(black texture paste and a little mica over the picture)

"Silvery Wings"...

A little side note..I've added a new blog roll list above my normal one on the right hand side called "Scrapbook Friends". Notice I didn't say "Scrapbooking Friends", because I don't scrapbook, but I do have friends who do! If you are that way inclined, please drop by and say howdy to these girls who also happen to be my workmates. (Scraptivate is not a person....just thought I'd clear that up! lol)

  1. OMG, a girl after my own heart - texture paste - my very own obsession. I looked at your covers the other day and fell in love. Your colours are incredible, but my absolute favourite is the first one using Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold & the Dingbats MM Foam stamps. I love those patterns and use them all the time. This one is definitely my favourite - I love the dark mood it invokes. It's spectacular. Ruth Spitzer

  8. Kelsey,

These book covers are wonderful. I like the gold one the best, but would be happy with any of them.

I just took a book making class yesterday and am anxious to make more. Your covers would be a great addition to the materials I have on hand.

  16. Kelsey, ever since I found your blog during the OWOH event, I have been following and just really enjoying your art and blogging. Since we are supposed to make a choice I think I like "dog poo" the best! It has a nice "organic" look to it. More freeform. Tina

  30. Hi Kelsey, I love all three covers, but I particularly love the blue one. It is my friend's 40th birthday in 4 weeks time, and I could use the cover to create a journal for her. By the way, here favourite colour is blue...a coincidence or what?

wow, kelsey, your covers and ATCs are amazing! i came across your blog via yahoo's inkjet transfer group, and had to comment. i have all those yummy golden colors, but my combos sure don't look as good as yours! although i love them all, i, too, am partial to dog poo, but only if it sparkles like yours. i would use it as the cover for the mixed media art journal i am making. thanks for being so generous with your talents! -- lisa

  35. Love, love, love the covers. If I'm one of the lucky ones, I'd use the covers to make a travel journal. I'm headed to the South of France this summer (a friend is living there, so I'll have a free room!!). Not sure I have a favorite, but the first one is the one I'd select. Love your blog.

I am a new art student and I have seen some of the most wonderful things that I would like to create. This is definitely one of the most amazingly beautiful. I want to create a book of my favorite painted artist trading cards and this would be such a fantastic and memorable cover for it! You have a fabulout site!

  39. Hi Kelsey
the second one would be my choice because my sister loves the colour blue, and she is living with a husband with severe depression and has been for 18 years. She is artistic but has not touched any due to looking after DH.
So, I am hoping that this might inspire her
Thanks so much for your generous giveaway
    Love your work

  43. Gotta put my hand up for #3, as for what I'd do with it, probably spend some quality time just feelin' it then the inspiration would come - maybe a good excuse to use my Zutter for the first time and make a journal! Missed HIM on the 1/3/10 - did you go and listen?

    Cheers!

  44. Well, they are all just beautiful. If i won i would either use it for my 40 things about me that i'm doing (turned 40 this year! sigh.... or use it as the cover for a memory book of my brother in law who we lost 3 years ago and his little girl (now 8) is starting to forget the little things about her dad so I am going to make them a memory book.
